RMweb Gold Harry Posted May 19, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 19, 2013 Hi, I'm hoping there is someone out there with a micrometer and some code 40 flatbottom track! If there is I'd really like to know the width of the head of the rail and the width of the foot as well. Hoping this will help in making a quick jig from a CAD drawing. MikeTrice
Hmmm, not such an easy answer. It depends on the supplier, however the NMRA dimensions which I assume Micro Engineering Code 40 comply with, can be found here: http://www.nmra.org/standards/sandrp/rp-15_1.html. For C&L Code 40 why don't you ask them?
RMweb Gold Harry Posted May 20, 2013 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 20, 2013 Brilliant! Thanks Mike - spot on and I'd allowed 0.5mm and it seems it's 0.508 which I'm hoping is close enough! It's the 2mm association rail I was planning on using but I might try another direct email as well. Thanks again.

trisonic
Here's some more data from North America (Fast Tracks) that includes actual measurements of model rail: http://www.handlaidtrack.com/kb_results.asp?ID=122 Trust this helps, Pete.

Only just come across this post so I'm not sure if you got a definitive answer about 2mm Scale Association rail. With my cheapo electronic vernier from Maplins I find the following dimensions: Head width: 0.35mm Foot width: 0.93mm Height: 1.02mm (exactly 40 thou) David
