drgj
I have some Hornby Dublo 2 Rail track and the points are slightly larger radius than modern first radius at 15" as against 14 1/2" (?) . My Bachmann 40 goes over them fairly slowly, Ivatt 2-6-2 is fine at a reasonable speed as is a super detail Hornby Class 5. A Hornby class 50 sails over fine but does it actually damage them? They say radius 2 is the minimum as in modern Hornby points. Dave
RMweb Premium Hilux5972 Posted June 21, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 21, 2013 It doesn't damage them but its generally better to stick to the recommended minimum radius so that the locos don't derail and get damaged.
Intercity125
It's amazing how many Bachmann locos will manage first radius quite happily including classes 03, 04, 08, 20, and 25. Personally I use 2nd and 3rd radius, but my daughter's layout is 1st radius with Bachmann visiting locos happy to run on the track with no problems at all. Coldgunner
I'm a big fan of the variable tnder connections Bachmann use, on my 5mt she will navigate 2nd radius with the close connection.
rob D2
be careful, my Bachmann 37 starts to carve into the body sides with the wheels at much less than R2
