Class 22/Class 29

Hi,

 

Can any Learned Sage advise - were the class 22 and class 29 diesels the same from the outside?  I know they were different internally engines etc.  Yes, you're thinking what I'm thinking with the Dapol N gauge class 22!

The main difference between the Class 22 and Class 21 (not 29) is that the Scottish 21 is 5 feet longer, which at 13% is quite significant.    The Class 29 is a re-engined Class 21 which with one exception had the ends reworked to include a central 4 character headcode.

Different length, cab front layout, bodyside arrangement, body cross-section at solebar level, roof arrangement, bogies.  Pretty much everything!

Many thanks for the prompt replies.  A scale 5 feet is a bit much to compromise on.  Oh well.

only 1 class 21 carried headcodes and blue livery, this was D6109, also only 1 class 29 didnt carry headcodes, this was D6123  if anyone wondered
