mikeandnel
Can any of the group members help me with the following problem?I am building 'Inspector' in EM gauge and frrom J.M. Wootons article on the subject he states that driving wheels were 4' diameter and the photos show 12 spoke. Also the leading and trailing wheels were 2'9" diameter with 8 spokes.Being a user of Gibson wheels, I can't find suitable wheels in his range for this loco.Has anyone else had the same problem? If so how did you overcome it?Any advice would be welcomeMichael
Adam
Michael I'm not wholly certain of the prototype, but the wheel situation doesn't sound too problematic. Gibson do a 3' 11" driver with 12 spokes - for a Terrier, as it happens - and in 4mm scale this must be near enough? Certainly well within wear tolerance of the real thing anyway. There is a 2' 8" 8 spoke wheel in the range with the right number of spokes (under bogie/tender wheels, product reference G4831). It's a compromise I could live with, certainly since wheel diameters on the prototype are nominal and tyres are turned down. Slightly too small is better than too big. Hope this helps Adam
mikeandnel
Hello Adam, Many thanks for the advice. I will be using Gibson wheels so will look for the wheels that you suggest Very grateful Michael
N15class
Could you not use a wagon wheel for the leading and trailing wheels.
mikeandnel
N15class I suppose that could be possible. I do have a box of hundreds of spare wheels so will look in there but needs to be the correct number and profile of spokes Michael
