Cheltenham Spa (Malvern Road)

Can anyone point me in the direction of photos or plans showing the layout of the station building and footbridge at Cheltenham Spa (Malvern Road).?

.

The station was an island platform with the station building separated from the platform by one of the running lines.

.

There are a few shots of the station on the RCTS site 'Mystery Photographs' page, but I've drawn a blank looking for any of the actual station building.

.

The footbridge appears to be the usual steel plated bridge with wooden panelled stairways.

.

All contributions gratefully received !

hi Brian,

For checking historic large-scale plans see http://www.old-maps.co.uk/maps.html

If you search for Cheltenham a range of maps will come up - including 1:2500 scale OS plans which show track layouts (just select the map revision date closest to your interests).

The site allows copies of the maps to be purchased.

Hope that helps.

all the best,

Keith

Steam Routes around Cheltenham, Stephen Mourton has a few photos, and you might find some on http://www.swindonsotherrailway.co.uk which covers the Midland & South West Junction, but has a bit on the GWR from Lansdown to St. James.

There are two photographs (figs 218 and 219) primarily of the footbridge in J.H. Russell's "The Banbury and Cheltenham Railway 1887-1962 (OPC), but I assume you may have "found" these already as they "Google" easily.

This one also cropped up http://www.flickr.com/photos/34872266@N02/4821660717/in/photolist-8m5gKk-engg2G-8m5reM-8m8CSj-8m8BQN-8m8Cfo-8m8rnE-fie1b7-dNyJGE , almost entirely useless for detail, but it shows something of the unusual arrangements.
