lefrog97
Has anyone got an idea where I can source some cheap (ish) smoke generator units suitable for use in 00 gauge locomotives?
Bruciethefish
Seuthe are the only ones I know of, if they're still available... Otherwise, it's down to stripping them out of old Triang locos..
Vin
Hi all, There is another source and one I stumbled on by accident. They come from RC tanks and are available a spare part. All you need to do is modify the housing so it will fit in your loco. Most of them run on 12volts DC or off DDC powered directly from the track and then switched on/off by the decoder. One word of caution is that they get very hot and can distort plastics very easily, plus they can be very power hungry so if you have lots of locos with them then make sure your layout transformer has enough power. RMweb Premium macgeordie Posted July 29, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 29, 2014 I've been using Seuthe units for 30 years and they are excellent but not cheap. Take a look on Ebay, there are lots on sale there. You will need to know which one you want, as the range is quite large. Try looking at the Seuthe website in Germany, even if you don't speak German you should be able to work out what size and voltage you need.
