hayfield
I have just won a lot which included a packet of Crownline bearings SG117 ( 1/8 chassis bearings, brass, Hornby) They are 1/8th flangeless bearings, which I guess go in to a loco so scale wheels can be used Which loco(s) are they designed for please
RMweb Gold Dunsignalling Posted August 23, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 23, 2013 They are designed to replace the separate Hornby bearings fitted to some loco chassis. Definitely the original tender drive 4-4-0s (and probably others but I am not familiar with many Hornby locos from that period) in order to fit Romford or other finer wheels on 1/8 inch axles. Much easier than bushing the originals, but I didn't discover them until after I'd done one loco! Nowadays, Markits do Hornby-sized axles to allow their wheels to be fitted using the standard bearings. John
hayfield
Thanks, that is what I thought. Just need to find which chassis as they might come in handy for one of the kits I have to build. I am guessing its the plastic chassis version
