A very enjoyable, albeit brief, couple of hours spent this morning at the open day.

Good to see Lambourn, Copenhagen fields and Llangerisech which was saturated in BR blue :good:

Very nice also to meet/catch up with Jerry, Nigel, Jim, Richard and Rich B and apologies to Andy H and David W who I didn't get time to speak to.

Much inspiration was gleamed in the short time there and whilst I am currently toe dipping in 7mm it proved that 2mmFS will always be part of me and that I need to rethink past and present projects in 2mmFS.

Although I took our Nikon camera I couldn't remember how to turn the flash off so have just added a few pics my eldest son grabbed of Llangerisech on his phone...bit out of focus but he captured some nice angles and details.

Lastly, one from me - We went to meet my wife after for lunch as she had been to the spa at St Pancras and we had lunch at Carluccio's which is at the end of the platforms. Having spent nearly two years working on the St Pancras International project whilst at Norman Foster's studio (I worked on the new roof extension) I do enjoy to revisit the space. A delicious lunch washed down with a couple of glasses of Italian red, spent watching Eurostar's glide in and out of the terminus capped off a wonderful day - Many thanks all.

Looks a great expo Pete.

Llangerisech looks like a particularly nice layout-you can't beat a BR blue Farish Class 24 either.

Also glad it got the old mojo going as well. ;)

Cheers,

Mark

Good to see you today Pete. It was indeed a very enjoyable day, never made it to St Pancras this time but Kim and I had lunch there last time we were up and I never tire of gazing  up at that stunning roof.

As you say, lots of nice things to see but I the particular treat for me was to see Lambourne again - a really attractive little layout that still looks and works beautifully after thirty years.

I had a fantastic day at Keen House yesterday. It was my first visit (though I've walked past Calshot St quite a few times in the past) and I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to see Copenhagen Fields, Lambourn, Llangerisech, etc. Even East Coast managed to deliver me to/from KX on time.

Sorry I missed you Pete - I hadn't realised that you'd worked on St.Pancras (and I agree with Jerry - the station is one of my favourite buildings. Just wish I could afford to stay in the hotel!!)

I took a few photos which I will upload later.

There can't be that many peeps who have stood on the top of the Barlow shed at the end looking down at the tracks below before the extension :O I even have the original sketches of the drawings we did explaining the new roof extension which I showed Bryn and Pixie in a boozer last year ;)

Shame to have missed you too Andy but now I am UK based again I hope to engage a little more with the 2FS scene.

Look forward to see your pics - it was a nice show indeed.

Fantastic Pete - most of my current involvement in the railways around there seems to be connected with grotty bits of tunnel on the Widened Lines! Anyway, back to the MRC open day...

Lambourn (these photos really don't do justice to such a fantastic layout!)

Apologies again for the poor quality of the photos - taken on my phone.

I've been there, and in one of the maintenance cradles, and in the hotel when quite a lot of it was roped off because the holes in the roof and led to holes in the floors.
