jonny777
While watching a Youtube film on holiday camps in the 1950s I came across this very short clip (which starts at about 55 seconds) of Prestatyn station and the second carriage visible appears to be a restaurant car, but is unlike any that I can remember seeing. Can anyone tell me more about it please?
mark54
Looks like an LMS diagram 1743 Restaurant Composite (RC) which according to "An Illustrated History of LMS Standard Coaching Stock vol.2" was the first LMS restaurant car design. All six (222-227) were converted by BR in 1954 into kitchen buffet cars (RKB) diagram 2180 and lasted until withdrawn in 1961/2. As the car is lettered "Restaurant Car", the shot must be before conversion. Mark
