And will be run in British railways day so close to withdraw and am after the faded look any ideas on this would be most welcome. I had thought of using gray primer I was thinking this would take some of the richness of the crimson away, but after that am a bit lost. coachmann Posted October 15, 2013 Share Posted October 15, 2013 Spray matt varnish on top of crimson lake and it will look chalky. It is close to how old paintwork looked but I cannot say it looks attractive on a model. I weathered mine down by brushing much dlluted acylic black onto the panels as shown below....
