BigBountyHunter
Hi all, yet another project started about a week ago and been in the pipe line for what feels like years! Ive always been admirer of the 7mm Layout Oldham King St, its compact size and simplicity is its beauty, I also have a love affair of micro layouts and thats just aswell living in a flat! so why not combine my favorite layout with a favorite old tv show location (Ashes to Ashes) and chuck it together as a micro project in "N" on a board measuring 39" x 8" To make the confined space more realistic ive place the railway up on arches and retaining walls, i tried it flat on the baseboard and it just didnt look right, to add a bit more to look at an overbridge has been included and so far the "The Railway" pub is the only building nearing completion its a modified and cut down Metcalfe card kit with another building stuck on the back to give it depth. The retaining walls and all brickwork is Metcalfe card sheets, this really is a railway on a budget as everything is salvaged from a previous layout, so far it has cost me nothing, and im trying to keep it like that at the moment Oldham King St scaled to N gauge is roughly two feet long. With 39" i have an advantage of being able to just fit a loco and 3 MKI coaches on the proposed platform, plus the sidings are a little longer. The baseboard topped with polystyrene and roadway and walls added Not sure if the pillbox should stay or go!!?? what do you guys think?? The track plan pretty faithful to Oldham King St !! thats it so far lots to do and im really enjoying this one! hope you like, any comments or criticism welcome! BigBountyHunter
ballasting completed and all track tested this weekend, alot of white edges on the cardboard need sorting out. some thing is missing down here to make it look like a dark 80's back street some lamp posts are on order but any ideas what else please? the obligatory cardboxes in the road in the way of a police chase would good i think? pointstaken
Those last two look really good. Do you need some kerb edging to really finish them off, or couldn't they afford it in Oldham ? Dennis

Peter Kazmierczak
Nice to see a viaduct layout. Well done! If you don't mind me saying, the cat looks very realistic but is maybe not quite to scale.....
pointstaken
Photowise they do look all right to my eye, but of course you'll see the actual colour. (Must admit I hadn't noticed the moggy !) Dennis
