(Not an exhibition as such, but neither did it seem appropriate to 'non-modelling events'!

NMRA Calder Northern Division are very pleased to announce that Jason Shron, President  of Rapido Trains in Canada will be giving a presentation at  Crewe Heritage Centre on Wednesday 20th November 2013 from 4.30pm to 6pm. Bill Schneider will be accompanying Jason and they will give a presentation that will include exhibiting  samples of current models plus talking about Rapido projects old and new, as well as the model railroad industry in general. It is planned that the presentation to be in the North Junction Signal Box so that models can be demonstrated on the Calder Northern DCC – “North Western Mills” HO scale layout.

Crewe Heritage Centre will be open from 1.30pm for those wishing to come along. The Centre’s 3 signal boxes, the APT and the Exhibition Hall will be open for you to wander around before the presentation. We are pleased to advise that the café will be open to serve hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, biscuits etc.

There is NO entrance charge but all food etc, will have to be paid for at the time of purchase.

For those persons who have not been to Crewe before, the Heritage Centre occupies the original site of Crewe Railway Locomotive Works of 1840. The works were built by the Grand Junction Railway, which later merged with other companies in 1846 to form the London & North Western Railway.

On site is the APT (Advanced Passenger Train), plus number of locomotives under maintenance or repair by L&NWR Heritage Railway Company (Pete Waterman’s business). There are three signal boxes (including the 131-lever Exeter West Box), a 7 1/4" miniature railway, items of railway interest displayed inside the Exhibition Hall and NMRA Calder Northern Division layouts.

How to get there:

The address is Crewe Heritage Centre, off Vernon Way, Crewe, Cheshire CW1 2DB - the Centre is located behind the Tesco supermarket and there are signs directing you to the entrance. If you get lost, follow road signs for "The Railway Age," which was the previous name for the Heritage Centre. If you get really lost and you have GPS, enter CW1 2DB and follow the nice lady's instructions.

There are parking lots at both along the entrance driveway to the Heritage Centre and inside the main gates. There will also be parking available on site alongside the APT and at the side of the Exhibition Hall.   Please note that the adjacent Tesco car park has a strict time limit.

Jason’s own words on the CanadianModelTrains website he stated  - Hi all,

Bill and I are heading to the UK next month to traipse around in muddy fields and ride a lot of trains.

Actually, we are going to do research on a UK "outline" (prototype) model that we are planning for 2015.

Bill and I will also be doing a Rapido presentation/meet & greet at the Crewe Heritage Centre on Wednesday 20 November, between 1630 and 1800.

We hope to see you there!
