It was one of the best Exeter shows I can remember, and made even better by meeting up with so many friends, old and new! I was helping Simon Castens ('Not Jeremy') on his Titfield Thunderbolt book stand. We had a very successful show this year, he said, especially on the Saturday.

Blackrat, Re6/6 and 10800 were at the front of the queue outside the doors on the Sunday morning, and I got roundly told off by one of the officials for having the temerity to open the front door a crack and exchange greetings with my friends a few minutes before official opening time!! :P

And yes, Blackrat had a suitably colourful shirt on!!

I did also meet RAB for the first time, so we had a nice chat, good to meet you my friend, and hopefully I may have persuaded one or two more RMWeb folk to come along to the SWAG curry evening at Buckfastleigh on 27th June (just confirm by PM or on the post if you really can come, please folks!).

The parking on the Sunday morning was indeed the usual chaos, not at all the fault of the organisers, but due to the huge car boot sale. It depletes the Exeter clubs staffing, due to having to keep people out at the entrance to the exhibitors car park, to prevent any predatory parking by unscrupulous car booters. This seems rather fraught, and in fact, I understand that the Police had to be called to deal with a couple of herberts making a nuisance of themselves yesterday morning...

It was one of the best Exeter shows I can remember,

Here, here, I felt exactly the same, and a very fitting celebration of fifty years of the Exe Model Railway Society.  A huge vote of thanks to the organisers.

We had a brilliant weekend with Charmouth, and it was good to meet so many RMWebbers, my apologies to anyone I didnt get to speak to.

My grateful thanks to everyone who took a turn at operating, including Darren01 and RayNorwood of the Barnstaple gang, but we couldnt drag Mudmagnet away from Diesels in the Duchy.

The Car Boot sale is a perrenial problem on Sunday morning, and the biggest cause of stress for the organisers.  Some of the participants seem to think they have a right to park anywhere they like; in front of access gates, blocking fire exits etc, and get nasty when told otherwise.  At least they are mostly packed up and gone by lunchtime.

Had a great weekend - spend mostly behind DiTD (not hiding I add), helping out Damian. Only had chance for a couple of sweeps round, but all looked good.

Did struggle to find much to buy to be honest, but not easy getting traders to make the trip down though.

Myself and Ray had problems parking Sunday morning, but managed to get a spaces at the front when a couple of the car-booters left. Surely this front carpark should be closed off?

Should add, that the carparking arrangements being completely out of control of ExeMRS, just that someone else had locked the gates to the normal carpark.

As I understand it, the arrangement is that one of the carparks is kept locked until the show organisers arrive.

But somebody from the Centre opened it early and it filled up with booters, who start about 6am.

Cheers, Dave.

I agree this was an excellent show, well done Dave and all the Exe club guys.

I enjoyed exhibiting again here (with Burnham-on-Sea) and meeting people

I don't see very often and then usually at shows.

The Sunday parking was the same last year, blame the car park staff,

certainly not the show staff.

Great show by the yellow shirted ones

I really enjoyed the show and on Sunday operated Maristow for a while whilst Owen made rude comments about my operating. Being used to three links I had to remember to locate the uncouplers. I was surprised on Sunday pm that the big car park wasn't open but did manage to find a spot for the motorhome.post-8525-0-80740300-1402063608.jpg

Very nice photos Don, do you mind if I download the Charmouth pics?

Many thanks,

Dave.

Of course not Dave but would you prefer the full size originals about 6 or 7Mb each. If so PM your email address to me.

Don
