M Graff
I got this HO scale loco: It is a 2-6-4? tank, but what make? I first thought Tenshodo, but it differs too much from the ones I have.... Even the origin of the prototype eludes me. USA? Japan? I will repair it, and build a new boggie for it, but I need to know how it should look. Thanks in advance. alfsboy
KMT was one of the main builders of brass locos for the American market .They made a huge array of diesels as well as steamers .They were an OEM rather than making them under their own label so they appear under many different US manufacturers name such as Alco,New Jersey custom brass,Soho ,Suydam ,PFM, Hallmark etc ,Max grey in 0 scale .Toby were made mainly for North Wst Short Line .All this is from memory of painting far too many brass locos .My favorite maker was United from PFM . Just because they are brass and look stunning doesnt mean they run well .Some were true dogs ,their diesels sounded like worn out victorian coffee grinders.
