PenrithBeacon
I've been busily converting two Cl108 dmus to P4 and I have just ordered two Blackbeetle power bogies, one for each. This modification will allow me to model the internals of the brake van area. Two problems though, what colours did BR & NSE use within the brake and can anyone point me to a photo reference showing the internal layout of the van? RMweb Premium Neil Posted February 5, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 5, 2014 No photos I'm afraid but my dim and distant memory of DMUs in the rail blue era was that the guards/luggage section was painted pale grey not unlike the upper band of blue/grey liveried carriages. Pete 75C
Pale grey perhaps, but some of the NSE DEMUs (at least) had their vans and driving cabs painted in a disgusting pale green colour, commonly referred to amongst staff as "baby sick green". See link, 3rd photo down: http://www.hastingsdiesels.co.uk/1001/ Possibility the colour may have been more widespread and used on DMUs? Edited to fix a broken link. SwissRailPassion
Pale sick green was the colour I remember on most ER units. If you google DMU BLuebell there are interior photos and videos. The LLangollen DMU group also have photos.
Boris
On the DMUs I've seen, the cabs weren't actually painted that foul green it was a disgusting green formica shot through with white. Brake van interiors were usually primrose yellow and painted light grey later as per previous answers.
