Al Reid
Yes it certainly is a lovely station. On a glorious Saturday 14th September 2013 I was up at the station. At 09.14 the northbound service arrived, three 156 units, the trailing one in Saltire scheme-156499. Next north was WCR 47826 on a Compass Excursion to Fort William. For a good while her exhaust echoed around the mountains on the climb up through Whistlefield. Next north was Deltic 55022 on an SRPS Oban excursion. this working waited for the up Glasgow, another trio of 156 units, pretty well full too, Out she went with WCR paint dip 37516 Loch Laidon doing the bulk of the work as the Deltic was only on one engine. What an amalgam of sight and sound at this perfect spot. When I was watching 27s in the 1970s little did I imagine I'd ever see 47s and Deltics on this line. Yes I know they did run a few excursions to Oban in Chris Green's ScotRail days
