Ply baseboard top advice please

Any advice with this please chaps

Finally finished all the baseboard frames for my loft layout

Got some big sheets of 6mm plywood for the baseboard tops.

Does it need a small couple of mill gap between each sheet of plywood to allow for expansion?

Or do people just butt it up to the next sheet?

All my baseboard frames are permently fixed so no need to think about dismantling it.

Thanks a lot

So long as your frames are square and don't twist then butt them up tight as the ply will not move.

For mine I made the frames up then screwed them to the ply tops using them as the square, the end frame members were bolted together and each board was built attached to the next (if that makes sense) so that they were a tight fit.

But not this Tight Fit.

Ha ha!

Thanks for the reply and video!

Ive built my boards just like youve described

All screwed together and braced up,its only 12 inches wide along the straight sections of the loft which is an insulated room

The frames are all made of 2x1 softwood pse,so fingers crossed nothing will twist and warp

Thanks again for the advice
