Hello Don,

 

Thanks for the nice comment, the slow running is down to a combination of things; a controller that acts like a diesel engine - high torque at low revs, graphite on the rails - that'll improve anyones running immediately and a Mashima motor with it's skewed armature and a large flywheel.

 

I've noticed a mis-apprehension on here about motors, "It only needs a little motor, I'm only going to do a little bit of shunting". Continuing with the diesel engine analogy I have found that a powerful motor is required, having nearly burnt out a smaller Mashima. The symptoms begin with an overrun when slowing down and go on to erratic starts as the motor heats up even more.

 

I'll be at the Sheffield show on the 11th October so anyone who wants to see the above combination in action and feel the precise control by having a go is very welcome.
