RMweb Premium drjcontroller Posted February 25, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 25, 2014 Been looking at options to convert my Heljan Kestrel to EM gauge. I'm a big fan of Ultrascale "drop in" conversions and while they don't do one specifically for Kestrel I wonder if the conversion pack for the Heljan 47 would be suitable. I'll give them a call in the next day or so but in the meantime, has anyone on here had any experience of converting this loco? Thanks, Douglas
RMweb Gold Enterprisingwestern Posted February 25, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 25, 2014 Put the existing wheels and gear on an EMGS extended axle, cheaper and quicker. Mike.
RMweb Premium drjcontroller Posted February 25, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted February 25, 2014 Mike, Thanks for the prompt reply. As I'm still a novice in EM, I've looked at the EMGS website, is it the 2mm EM plain axle I'm looking for? The wheels are the originals from when the model was purchased (Oct 2009) so I'll need to replace them with something more suitable. It would certainly be a lot cheaper (and quicker) than Ultrascale. WILLIAM
Looking for some help please. I've got a 'Kestrel' that is missing a windscreen wiper. That spares sprue is no longer available from Howes. Anyone any idea where I could source one? Are the wipers the same as class 47s for example? Thanks. SRman
If it is any help, the class 47 and Kestrel use the same wheelsets from Heljan.
