Well not from MKD or Jouef kits as they're notoriously under scale.

These are far more difficult to find than those for railway buildings. 

I've got some references in books but a flat on photo scaled from the door (if it's a modern 2 metre one) is often quite a good start. 

There are significant regional variations in building styles which affect things like the pitch of the roof (which is sometimes set by local regulations) and whether it's tiled or slated and older buildings tend to have lower doorways. If you let me know what region and period you're modelling I may be able to turn up some references as I have taken lots of photos of buidings in towns mostly in Pays de Loire for just this purpose.
