philip-griffiths
Last Friday saw the withdrawal of bus routes operated by the Lough Swilly Bus Company. It was the successor to the Londonderry & Lough Swilly Railway Company and operated a number of bus routes centred on Derry and Letterkenny and radiating out to places once linked by the narrow gauge line. It follows the appointment of a liquidator. Sad day for Derry and transport in the North West of Ireland. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-foyle-west-27046236
RMweb Gold Colin_McLeod Posted April 23, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 23, 2014 I believe that the company was called the Londonderry and Lough Swilly Railway Company up to its closure. Agree that it is a sad day. Must be the longest surviving "railway" company. Edited for typo
ForestPines
Must be the longest surviving "railway" company. The Festiniog Railway Co is still going strong, of course, at 182 years old but with just 9 years of being a "railway" company in name only. Still a sad day for public transport of course.
