RMweb Premium Kris Posted May 30, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 30, 2014 Could anyone point me in the direction of pictures of either a D16 or D17 coach. I believe that these were built in 1895 in lots 751 and 752 respectively. I also know that they are shown in Russell book one (a book I don't have). Many thanks
RMweb Premium Kris Posted June 3, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted June 3, 2014 The other day I bought a vintage coach on ebay, mainly because I thought it would look rather nice behind the pannier that I picked up for a song last year. Given it's length I initially thought that it might have been either a D16 or D17, however with the help of PD&SWJR I have established that this is not the case. It scales to about 52' Any ideas as to whether this is a work of fiction or a representation of a real coach? It is a Mills Bros kit (running on different bogies) so I guess it is rather old. The number on the coach would make it a D4, but as these were only 38'8" it's not one of these.
Adrian Wintle
I would suggest a work of fiction. If that is a battery box then it isn't the right style for GWR, and if it is a gas tank, where are the gaslight tops? The sides have more of an LNWR feel to them. RMweb Premium Kris Posted June 4, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted June 4, 2014 I suspect that's you're right Adrian. However for a coach that is possibly 70+ years old I didn't think that it was too bad.
