RMweb Premium James Makin Posted July 2, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 2, 2014 Has anyone ordered anything from Loughborough Model Centre recently, any good? They've got some good pre-order prices on the latest Hornby bits, thinking of making a fairly large order just wanted to check for any horror stories etcs haha! Many thanks James
RBE
I've bought from them at shows but not ordered online. Prices seemed pretty good for most things, other than that I can't comment.
EddieB
My advice would be to check the small print over pre-order prices. LMC will absorb small increases, but if there is a big increase from the manufacturer between intial announcement and eventual release, they will pass most of it on to the customer - and get miffed if the customer wants to cancel their order at the higher price. I don't know how typical is such practice, and to be fair, is perhaps understandable for a small business where margin are tight.
PLD
I've not dealt with them for railways, only die-cast and in that sector but they are regarded as among the best in the country. They are usually competetive on price and decent for service. Have even been happy to put things aside for collection at a show 2-3 months later...
