Trainman119
I recently purchased a photograph on eBay of a Longmoor Military Railway(LMR) Austerity 0-6-0ST with the Vacuum pipe on the right side, painted a light green, white wheels and rods, bright yellow dome, black smoke box door, "Percy", carrying the number plate for 68009, Noted on the back of the photograph as HE 3889 on the Great Central Railway '93. ( HE 3889 '64 is NCB No. 65 and from what I can tell it was never on the LMR). Does anyone know the actual identity of the locomotive???
Sir Hadyn
For a time, the GCR's Pseudo "J94" which ran as 68009, was painted as Percy when they borrowed the Mid Hants Railway's Thomas and James characters. It was never a Longmoor engine, and the vacuum gear is a standard modification for preserved engines based on the equipment that Longmoor engines had. A number of preserved Austerities have appeared as "68009", and this is probably Hunslet 3825, the one that's now at Kirkby Stephen.
