cromptonnut
I have a Lenz setup and have a couple of LS-152 adaptors which give me different places to plug in the controller around the layout. I have cables with both the RJ12 and DIN connectors. However, it's been a while since I bought some and now it seems the price is about £18 each which could get rather expensive. http://www.ehattons.com/10747/Lenz_Digital_80152_LA152_XBUS_Adaptor_with_Faceplate/StockDetail.aspx I wonder if anyone knew of any cheaper sources or ways of achieving the same sort of thing? I am sure I have seen cheaper alternatives but cannot find them. I know I can get panel mount 5 pin DIN sockets from Ebay cheaply but I'm not sure how to wire them up and then I still have the problem of needing to plug in RJ12's. Thanks in advance. Glorious NSE
About half way down the page here is an extract from the Lenz instructions giving the pins on the back of the DIN http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/73182-freemo-extravaganza/page-20 Would standardising on one (DIN or RJ) between your devices help in that you wouldn't then need to provide both connections? DINs can be wired in pretty cheaply on a fixed layout as per that, or if you went all RJs then the Tonys Trains UTP (Universal Throttle Panel) would work, that's slightly cheaper than the LA152. cromptonnut
Thanks for that, just ordered some plugs from Ebay. Standardising would probably help but it's just what cables I have accumulated over the years Is there a UK supplier of the "Tonys Trains" devices? I seem to have acquired one of those from somewhere but I have no idea where from.
Glorious NSE
http://www.digitrains.co.uk/ecommerce/dcc-systems/low-power-starters/nce-cab-bus-panel.aspx(No connection, etc...)
cromptonnut
Thanks - tried there but couldn't find it. No connection? Thought the whole point of a patch panel was to make connections?
Wacol
Walthers have the Atlas universal panel connector in stock, part no. 150-322. It is just a rebadged Lenz LA-152. (about $10 cheaper than the Lenz unit which they also have in stock) Keith
cromptonnut
Unfortunately when you add international postage you end up paying even more!
Adrian Wintle
Walthers have the Atlas universal panel connector in stock, part no. 150-322. It is just a rebadged Lenz LA-152. (about $10 cheaper than the Lenz unit which they also have in stock) Keith The Atlas version doesn't have the LMAB screw teminals (just has the solder pads). The AtlasMaster system comprised of the Compact and the LH30 so the wire connections weren't necessary. Adrian
RMweb Gold RFS Posted July 31, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 31, 2014 I bought a 5m DIN extension cable (plug one end, socket the other) so that I could take my LH100 anywhere in the room, including underneath the baseboard if required for point motor checking. cromptonnut
Thanks for the link. I'm thinking about ways to not get everyone tangled up with the UK modular stuff.
