Tim V
Ynys Gwyntog (Windy Island) was a series of articles in the 60s about a narrow gauge model. I bought a magazine containing an article on it from Towyn Wharf (as then spelt) station on my visit there in 1965. That article blew me away, a model that looked believable. Fantastic. It is just possible that article led to a hobby that has lasted with me to this day. Even today, the articles make for some reading, the pictures of the models still look convincing. And they are on the net. Delighted to see that Bob Barlow has resurrected the name and is constructing his own homage to that layout. I'm looking forward to seeing more. http://www.greystarpublications.com/ngi/review%20blog.htm

Sparta-rb
Thanks for pointing out the mention on the Greystar blog. The full story of my 7mm version of the Ynys Gwyntog hamlet and harbour appears in issue 100 of Narrow Gauge & Industrial Railway Modelling Review which will be out in the next couple of weeks, in time for Expo NG. Burning midnight oil to finish the model to a deadline, along with producing a bumper 100-page issue of the magazine and launching a new title (Finescale Review), I slightly lost my perspective on whether the model was good, bad or indifferent! In fact, I thought it was all of those at various different times, so it will be interesting to see what readers make of it.
