RMweb Gold tarifa Posted August 9, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 9, 2014 I want to remove the body to gain access to fix the glazing in place. Does anyone have any tips. There is nothing on the Hornby website. Thanks in advance.
SRman
Look under the chassis. There should be some small body-coloured clips protruding through slots. There are two at each end (one each side of the couplings) and two in the middle, off-set diagonally behind the battery boxes.Using a small flat-bladed screwdriver you should be able to release the clips while pulling gently on the body and chassis. RMweb Gold tarifa Posted August 30, 2014 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted August 30, 2014 Tried to remove the body as suggested even put pegs into the slots to hold back the clips but still the body wont budge.
RMweb Gold Enterprisingwestern Posted August 31, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 31, 2014 Seems like you have CESS, chinese excess superglue syndrome. Try holding each end of the van in your hands and with a wringing motion twist the body along its length, usually that's enough to crack any joint between the body and chassis. Mike. Porcy Mane
You also have to "ping" back the vacuum pipes as these bend in a U shape around and behind the bottom of buffer beams. Porcy
