Ben Alder
I rediscovered this image recently, and couldn't decide where to put it, so thought this section was as good as any. It shows part of the goods yard and cable drums waiting to be carted off. It was taken in 1935,IIR, and the drums were part of mains electric becoming available in the town. Ben Alder
This is the companion piece. However, I realised that I had already included these in a half forgotten thread on Thurso wagon traffic a couple of years ago details of which are here -m http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/61664-thurso-rail-traffic-in-the-early-70s/ - Must be old age..... jasp
Richard What a great pic - wonder the cart is up to the weight of that engine. Presumably it is destined for a boat. Jim P
Ben Alder
Think of the poor horse! Fortunately its downhill to its destination- the load was for a private power company, the town finally getting mains electricity in 1935.
Jim49
Downhill all the way - I hope the horse has good brakes!
