Brockenhurst's new footbridge & lifts

Took a journey break, yesterday. These shots were taken from the Down platform.

Photos of new work, at other locations, would be more than welcome.

Replacing the Southern style, pre-cast concrete footbridge at the southern end of the platforms. (Always a hurdle, laden down with luggage, let alone being wheelchair bound)

Seems that the Northern passengers are a bit more hardy than those in the places pictured above, but I suppose if you commute every day in a Nodding Donkey you need to be, and I suppose it is a long way from Westminster and only about 1000 people cross the bridge on an average day.

No pics, but there's a ton of work going on to provide lifts up to the platforms at Berkhamsted. I'm not certain how they'll be accessed at street level - presumably off the existing subway - but you can see the works at the extreme south end of the platforms.

I'm there tomorrow (my mother lives there) so if I can get round by the station I'll try and get a photo or two.

When I first knew Taunton station around 1970 the middle island platforms were out of use,

in the 1980s the Taunton area re-signalling scheme saw them brought back into passenger use albeit with very limited facilities.

The lift up from the subway level was installed in 2007, here is a not very good shot showing the lift building on the left
