Dan Griffin
with my recent re-newed interest in industrial steam loco's i searched the web and found these old cini-film of industrials in action, there is some really good footage here, just watch it in mute if the old cini clicking gets a bit much. there are loas more in the lists at the side, i personally found them excellent viewing. HLT 0109
Dan, I agree - great viewing. Reminds one just how dirty steam could be! I didn't realise NCB was still using steam in 1979 - or perhaps they were ex-NCB still carrying the old lettering. Harold.

Harold. i haven't seen the clips but it was the mid 80ies before the last NCB steam engins went. Also don't forget the NCB steam engine Robert the ex MOS engine that took part in the Rainhill display in 1980 from Rainhill collie where they still had 3 steam engines at this date. Adam
Thanks for the link Dan, rotten quality film but more than compensated for by the really interesting subjects. The South Wales sequences (especially the sheep crossing the colliery yard) are just brilliant. Adam
avonside1563
All great stuff there, and yes Harold the NCB were using steam into the 1980s as were other users such as the CEGB at Castle Donnington Power Station and Tennants at Whifflet with their Sentinels.
