Jason's Preserved Photos - with added Barnum Coaches

Hi there, I'm coming over to England in a few weeks, and while I'm here I'm going to head down to Ruddington to take photos of the Barnums there (you might have seen a different thread about that) for Mike Trice, me and anyone else that wants them. There are very few photos on the internet of the Barnum, and they are often of a similar view so I'm going to hopefully take as many photos as I can of each vehicle that I go after, not only the 3/4 views, etc, but all the bits and pieces that you wouldn't expect to see a photo of. These would be underneath for example, or small details like builder plates. I'll also be doing this with the Class 114 at Butterley if I can. Hopefully this will help people making models of these and other vehicles.

To practice, I've been over to Fort Steele here in BC to take a photo of a clerestory coach that was a part of the local Morrissey, Fernie and Michel Railway. I also took a load of photos of a Shay loco while I was there that I'll put up later. If anyone's interested, can you let me know if I'm covering anything or if there are any big gaps?

As I do each vehicles I'll put the photos up onto Flickr and then link to them in this thread.

Finally, I didn't put this thread into photography because I thought it was more about the vehicle than a work of art, although I hope you like the look of them as well. I if this is in the wrong part of RMWeb then please feel free to move it to the right place!

cheers

Jason

At Ruddington there are four Barnum coaches including a brake. Two coaches are outside and two inside. I was allowed to go around each coach taking as many photos as I could. Unfortunately (for me, not the coaches) the outside photos were securely tarped, and there wasn't much room around the ones in the sheds, but hopefully I've been able to produce some photos of details that might be able to help others. For more information on the coaches see http://www.gcr-rollingstocktrust.co.uk/articles_output.asp?id=11&checkSource=sitemap . Also Historic Carriage Drawings Vol 1 LNER and Constituents by Nick Campling.

Thankyou to the people at Ruddington for allowing me to take a load of photos. I can't wait to see these good looking coaches restored and in use again.

Mostly underframe as the coach was quite rightly securely covered with a tarpaulin.

Not many photos of this one as I felt I'd just be repeating a lot of what I'd done with the first Barnum. This Barnum coach has maroon paint peeling from the ends.

The third Barnum, this time inside the shed and being restored. The great thing about this coach is that you can see how it's been constructed.

The final Barnum coach, this time the Brake is currently in a second thread and has recently been sandblasted. These photos are unreliable regarding colour.
