Fat Controller
When going down to Penarth last week, the journey from Severn Tunnel Junction to Newport was slower than normal, presumably due to various TSRs after the STJ remodelling works. This allowed me to notice an unusual sign on the Down Relief near the site of the former Magor station- it was one of those '5-car stop' boards of the type normally seen at different points along platforms, but on a piece of line with no platforms or other structures. What is it there for? Is it perhaps to give a stopping point for diverted Voyagers travelling via Chepstow to reverse, in connection with a cross-over or something? RMweb Gold beast66606 Posted February 3, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 3, 2010 Sounds like its used for reversals as you suggest.
Edwin_m
I agree this sounds like the right explanation. One of the aims of the STJ remodelling was to provide better reversal facilities for diverted trains between Bristol and Cheltenham.
