EddieB
As the video shows (but not the still picture on the website), the El18 class has recently displaced the El17 locomotives, which are being withdrawn. There was a farewell special for the El17 from Olso recently.
Hippel
Hi, I had the fortune to ride the Flam Railway in May last year. Top'n'tail El17s were the traction and in the museum shop I was able to buy a cab-ride DVD. It sounds like I won't be able to get the other E17s in the book for haulage, then. rogerfarnworth
It is a while since this thread was used but it seems a good idea to post here rather than start another thread. .... Over Christmas 2018 I have been reading through a number of old copies of 'The Railway Magazine'. Most of the magazines were from 1950. I found an article about the Flam Railway in Norway and thought that members of the forum might be interested. The railway provides the connection between the national railway network in Norway and the Sognefjord. It was the plan of the 'spiral at the head of the valley that grabbed my attention. Perhaps it is the ultimate justification for a rabbit warren style of layout and the post could have gone on the thread relating to Spirals? http://rogerfarnworth.com/2019/01/01/the-flam-railway-in-1950
