Jon Gwinnett
This story, which the magic of Google translated for me, indicates Roco has moved all production from China to Romania. http://wirtschaftsblatt.at/home/nachrichten/oesterreich/salzburg/3898147/Roco-zieht-aus-China-ab-und-fertigt-in-Rumaenien?from=rss The link came via a Dutch modelling Facebook page. Brit15 Just hope that the wiring and bearings are a bit better on the models than the real thing. Apparently if you wanted to get hit you went to Tinsley and mentioned Romania. Allegheny1600
Yes, the original Romanian 56's were "rough" but how about this? Greek railways ordered a 4000Hp diesel class from Romania about the same time as BR did, only thing was this loco was fitted with a copy of an Alco 251 engine, pushed to it's limits! They looked good, even had class 56 bogies but they didn't last long! Back on topic, let's hope that Roco/Fleischmann have good quality control available. I know for a period a few years ago, some of their models were not to the usual Roco standards but they have certainly improved over this past couple of years. Good on them, I say. Cheers, John E. modfather
I've heard from fitters who used to work on them that the bottom of the electrical cubicles often had lots of wax left from when they were wired by candle light in power cuts in the factory...
