doublecee
http://www.airfix.com/news/airfix-2015-ipms-scale-modelworld-announcement/ Its just been announced at scaleworld. So I can share some of the recent things my company Motion Associates Ltd have been doing for Hornby / Airfix. Its a departure from the film work that keeps me busy 24/7, but Margate have fully embraced the approach with many cool things scanned and yet to be announced. This seems like the most appropriate section of the forum to post this.. C
Tricky-CRS
Interesting work and I see you use the Faro long range scanner. What do you use for control between scans and what software to tie it all together?
doublecee
Yes, I have four scanners, 1 x 120, 2 x 130's and the 330 in the image. I process using the faro Scene software and then from there into some proprietary tools prior to delivery.
Wild Boar Fell
Just seen this in the Airfix Newsletter, sounds interesting. Is it more accurate than laser scanning? Or cheaper? Regards, Wild Boar Fell
doublecee
It is laser scanning. Not sure why they reffered to it as Radar
Marbelup
According to Wikipedia: Although thought by some to be an acronym of Light Detection And Ranging,[1] the term lidar was actually created as a portmanteau of "light" and "radar".
doublecee
Aye... But in the industry when asked the standard explanation is Laser Imaging, Detection and ranging. I let Hornby know that the light radar is a little weird and anticipate it will be changed tomorrow.
