baldopeter
L.C.L.R. Historic Vehicles Trust - Peoples Millions BidThe Lincolnshire Coast Light Railway Historic Vehicles Trust, based at the Water Leisure Park in Skegness, are running a project to restore one of last Class D’s we have in our collection, that is in poor condition having been used as an open coach for 25 years on the LCLR. The finished vehicle will look like a Class D running in wartime condition, but will be able to carry passengers and have disabled access. Details of the project are on our website at http://lclrhvt.bravesites.com/, and a slide presentation here http://youtu.be/gYQ2fMK19Eo This project has now reached the finals of the ‘Peoples Millions’ competition. We are bidding for funding of over £43,000 to rebuild the vehicle and provide better access for the disabled and families with prams and buggies. Having got this far we have a 60% chance of winning the funds ! Next Tuesday, the 25th November will see voting day, when a clip about our project is broadcast on ITV Yorkshire South ‘Calendar’ between 6.00 and 6.30pm. We will record the clip and post it on You Tube if you do not live in our area. Voting is only by telephone, lines are open from 9.00 a.m. until a minute to midnight on Tuesday. We need all the support we can get, and appeal to all of you who are interested in narrow gauge railways to vote for us, your friends, family, and colleagues can vote too if you can persuade them. You do not have to live in our local area to vote, but you must phone from within the U.K mainland. Calls will cost no more than 15p each, and you can vote up to 10 times from each landline or mobile. We will circulate the phone numbers next Tuesday morning, and the URL of the video in the evening. Please support us, the LCLRHVT is a very small band of enthusiasts, this level of funding is something we usually just dream about, perhaps this time it will become a reality. You can keep up to date with the appeal, as well as getting ‘Jurassic back to steam’ at our new Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LCLRHVTRegardsPeter Balderston. RMweb Premium Kris Posted November 23, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 23, 2014 I wish you the best of luck for this. At this time last year I was at this stage in the process. We won our bid. We had groups out in all the local towns, got on the local radio and in the papers. I think in total we gave out about 10000 flyers. By looking at the on line version of the Mirror we were able to get the voting number several hours earlier than we would have done by waiting for the paper to reach us. This enabled us to get a lot of printing done early that morning. Good luck! edit - Our local region ITV news company use Vimeo to put their clips on, so you might find that yours do the same.
