Nicktuk159
I've recently started using SCARM to plan a layout using this track and was surprised to find that the minimum radius that the software dictates is 30"/750mm ... is this really the tightest radius the track can be used? TonyA
Using a Roy Link rail bender, I built a pizza layout with a minimum radius of 6 inches. It ran fine all day at shows with Bachmann and Fleischmann locos. Tony
RMweb Premium Mike Bellamy Posted December 21, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 21, 2014 Nick - does the software allow tighter radius for Peco OO track as it uses the same Code 100 rail - with O/16.5 it's only the sleepers that are different and you might need to cut away a bit of the joining webs underneath to get a tighter curve - as Tony says above, there are other examples out there which show that it is possible. . hayfield
Nick I think it will be more like the minimum radius your stock will work on, including the couplings which might bind/fail at very small radii
Nicktuk159
Thanks everyone for your input ... I have to confess to being interested in its use in unusual circumstances - I will be using 00 stock on 0 scale track on a Gauge 1 layout Using 1:32 scale 16.5mm gauge track becomes 20"/21" track as used by the Hudswell Clarke 'Pretenders' at North Bay (Scarborough), Golden Acre Park (Leeds), Pleasure Beach Express (Blackpool) and British Empire Exhibition (Butlins/Glasgow).
