shreives
Bit more work on the signal tonight the hole has been made deeper so it sits lower down. I am thinking of putting a plasticard plate around it instead of filling the hole so that it is accessable if there are any problems Any other ideas would be very welcome . Quick couple of pictures please excuse the quality Stuart

shanks522
Looks much better buried in the platform, i would think about removing the counter weight though as it looks a little odd that low down. Graham.
RMweb Premium phil-b259 Posted October 14, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 14, 2016 Just one thing, looking at your pictures it appears that the placement of the Peco made HW point machine could do with some attention. As the photo shows various rods are attached to the front of the moving blades and should co-inside with the first cover plate (the sticking out bits on the machine) as illustrated below
shreives
Phil-b259 thank you that is just the picture i need there are so many bits like this that will all need attention but this is certainly a good place to start thank you again Stuart

Quick couple of pictures please excuse the quality Stuart On some places the real railway did the same as you and ended up with a 'pit' around a pre existing signal. On such cases wooden decking would be used to cover the hole (and any fittings like wire wheels) with the signal wire emerging through it (much like the Dapol operating rod does through the base. This techniques was also applied to colour lights in some situations - particularly gantries which needed more substantial foundations than a bog standard post. Edit - in fact if you look carefully at the Bexhill signal, it looks to be mounted in a similar way to yours and has a metal plate covering the resultant in the platform surface. Hi Phil-b259 Thanks for the info on this, I really like the idea of putting wooden planks around the signal something abit different Many thanks Stuart
Tempfix Rich Papper Posted October 30, 2016 Tempfix Share Posted October 30, 2016 Hello. Really enjoying following this. I wish I had the sense to start something this size. We move house and my wife gave me the garage. So I started trying to fill it! Re the point motors, I found out quite a bit for mine from this thread http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/84599-dummy-point-motor-placement/?p=1416226 Looking forward to more. shreives
Hi WCML100 thanks for your comments. It is very much a working progress and hoping to get abit of time over the christmas break to get abit done. I also need to sort the power supply to the loft instead of the extention lead hanging out the loft hatch ! Stuart
shanks522
20161208_162431.jpg Stuart I reckon you should fit a chip to the N, looks really good on the layout. New steam stock? M7, Standard 4 tank perhaps? Graham.
shreives
Well that works out well graham just the M7 to get then haha as the standard 4 is already boxed under the layout Stuart
shreives
Time for a quick christmas/new year update. Not to exciting for you guys but i want to try and keep the thread updated My brother and his family very kindly bought me a Bachmann inspection saloon and my mum and dad bought me a sound chip for the Hornby 08 they got for my birthday in the summer. I do like how this one came out. I will get some pictures of the 08 in the next couple of days hopefully Happy new year to you all and for a good year of modelling Stuart
shanks522
Inspection saloon looking good on the layout Stu, might of coupled it with a loco though! Like the last shot with the EPB, one problem though, the signal isn't plumb! Sort it out! Big Brother.
shreives
Hi Graham Thank you very much for the inspection saloon. It was only for a quick update so locos were in the cabinet over christmas. The signal is still only placed in the hole at the moment so when it is put in properly it will be plumb ! shreives
I will get some pictures up tomorrow hopefully with the 33 and inspection saloon and the 08 i will get some video footage but i will give you a call about that Graham. I managed to find some of the wagons that i will be using on the layout today in the many boxes in the loft! To give it that early 70s feel Box vans in the loading bay and a couple of mineral wagons waiting to be collected Next 37049 arrives with a brake van to collect the 16t mineral wagons the engine will run round here and depart the way it cane in Stuart
shreives
Well today has been a busy day at Haynes End with plenty of passenger services and a few freights but first up i managed to catch a 33 with an inspection saloon passing through the station 33 an Inspection saloon going into the tunnel Shortly after i caught an EPB coming in to the station About an hour later the 33 returned to pick up some wagons from the yard After coupling up to the minneral wagons then collected a box van from the loading bay The 33 then backed the wagons on to the brake van and waited for a passing passenger service A 2 bill passes the 33 on the freight About 45mins later after the two trains had gone a 73 passes through the station with empty mail van movement Following the 73 was the returning EPB And just as i was about to leave 37049 came through with a small engineers train Lastly as prosmised a quick pic of the 08 Many thanks Stuart
