shanks522
more to come but when the scenery is abit further along. Stuart I spied a bit of work around the base of the signal, Matchsticks may be better though to represent planking. Graham.
shreives
Some form of planking will be added the plasticard is just a template for plank sizes. I have placed the hut at the front of the layout aswell i think it works quite well. Any comments and thoughts greatly received Stuart

tjf4375
Great to see another 3rd rail layout in progress! It's looking really good. I love the way you've done the fiddle yard going out to the reversing loop and back round into the station, really ingenious use of the space.
shreives
Thanks Graham finally got there. Tjf4375 i would like to say i could take credit for the out and back idea but that was down to my brother (shanks522) I will try and get some more videos uploaded now i have worked it out Stuart
shreives
Tonight i have been having a clear up in the loft i want to tidy some of the wiring up so i have removed the scenic board. While i had it out i thought i would get some pictures. The out and back loop and line to the fiddle yard The 2 sidings that run down the backscene and the lines to the station and the yard And the easy drop in area for the main board nice and easy no bolts or latches just drop in and go. And finally this will be where the helix will go and connect back up with the lines at the back of the board the timber is cut for the helix just needs fitting now. shreives
Managed to grab five minutes to run up in the loft and get a couple of photos of some work carried out at the weekend. Graham popped over and while he was here we made a start on the helix but we have arranged one night in a couple weeks to hopefully get the rest done and maybe some track laid Progress so far Also done alittle at the front of the layout Lastly had a very enjoyable afternoon at the Erith show and picked these up Stuart

The Bigbee Line
Just come across the thread. I'm always pleased to see what can be done with a small southern region based layout. Very nice.
The Bigbee Line
Hi Graeme, You are quite correct about the 3 way acting as the trap point, In all honesty i had it going spare and it gave a good spacing for the platform road so it got fitted. Think i need a better excuse. cheers Graham. I would suggest the story as follows. The trap was originally for a single siding. The 3 way was a later addition. It would be expensive / inconvenient to alter the arrangement.
shreives
Hi Bigbee line Thanks for your comments i like your your thoughts on the trap point and siding i may have to use that as the back round thought on that. Stuart
shreives
PROGRESS AT LAST Had a boys night on wedensday with graham and dad Work on continued on getting a full circuit in. Graham continued his great work as ever with the helix and dad and i fitted the incline in at the back of the board. It didnt take long for all the wood work to be done and track laying was started. Graham and dad continued to get all te track work in after we had a short break as i had to deal with a slight repaint on a wall (thanks Graham) New pointwork for the incline and sidings The helix is still a work in progress at the moment with more side supports to go in Quick shot with the station lights on and a 33 in the back road Stuart

shreives
This evening i decided that i would have a go at weathering some old 20t mineral wagons with acrylic paint they are not quite how i wanted them to come out but the more i look at them now the more i like them. I am waiting for some weathering bits to turn up but i thought i would give this ago in the mean time. Any commets more than welcome Before After 16t 3 together On the layout Stuart
shanks522
Very good Stu, Looks like you need a few more 21 tonners though! Graham. Edited February 27, 2017 by shanks522
shreives
They would look good but not quite in the the right region. I need to get more 16t mineral wagons really then i can recreate the southfleet coal workings in the 70s with a peak Now a peak with that EM2 speaker in would be right at home ! shanks522
Hello all, When i was with Stuart the other week i took a few video's with my iphone, not the greatest of quality but you get the idea. Graham.
shreives
Thanks graham video looks good. Day off today so managed to get up in the loft and get a few jobs done. The main job of the day was to get all the loco wheels cleaned and give each one agood run. Then attention turned to cleaning the 3 way point blades the larger engines crawl over but the 08 and sentinel are still stalling so i will have to add some hexfrog juicers, and maybe look into adding some stay alives. Little bit greenery added this afternoon aswell Overall pic I have also spent quite abit of time trying to get the Dapol 73 to run better it has been a pig of a runner for months but after a bit of work it is now running fairly smoothly Stuart
