richard brown
With Warley model railway coming up. Which is my main model railway shopping trip off the year I am left with one question which train is getting a ??100 spent on it. The question is which do I do the Hornby 153 or the Bachmann Class 66. And who dose the best sound for which. Thank you Richard
RMweb Gold big jim Posted October 21, 2009 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 21, 2009 of the 2 id personally go for the 153 as its something different from the run of the mill releases and it has a bit more play factor than the 66 with things like doors opening and closing sounds, buzzer, guards whistle etc I have the howes version of both the 66 and 153 which you can listen to if you look in srman's "sound loco videos" thread (1st reply on there)
Piemanlarger
if you want sound in a 66 i think buying new is a around ??140 ish or second hand for perhaps around ??100. The 153 is about ??50 for loco and then another ??122 for chip, unless you can drive to Howes and save the ??8 P&P. What would swing it for me is do i want a passenger only loco, or a frieght loco (that somertime works specials). Personally i would get both! richard brown
Thanks for the replays I had not hade the idea off getting a pre chipped train but that sound like a good idea, I also like the suggestion off going for both. thank you Richard
