Oxnard Metrolink Collision/Derailment

From the look of that the cab car was leading and was one of the newer Hyundai Rotem cars with the high cab and it appears to have turned through almost 180 degrees. The second car is a Bombardier Bi-Level (the one lying with one end on the road) and the other two appear to be more Rotem cars. The loco is an F59PH.

It is heartening to see that the cars are substantially intact.

If they operate like GO Transit, the conductor isn't in the cab, but is in one of the coaches (on GO it is the accessibility coach as the conductor has to deploy the ramp), so the door control isn't done from the cab.

I was thinking more of the door/traction interlock, if there is one.

still no AC4400s working last week , and clearly the Rotem cabcars aren't quite the deathtraps that was inferred , Metrolink being quite happy to use them without any pilot locomotive for the past few months without any modifications.

There was a line of 10 or so AC4400s in track 15 at LA Union , which were started up periodically , with the remainder at the locomotive terminal near Hobart Yard. 5641 has been out and about undergoing PTC testing , as yet they can't get it to work properly.

Other issues to overcome include that if they stick an AC4400 atop the cab car coming into LA Union, there is insufficient distance between the track bumper and the fixed wheelchair ramp where they usually spot the cab car , and that one route is blocked to six axle power ; unfortunately the train working plan involves some sets working on more than one route , so all the equipment cycles need re-writing.
