We have a couple of very large layouts exhibiting this year, Warton Road at 48ft and Thornbury Hill at 41ft which are well worth traveling those extra few miles to see in full working order, add to that, examples of almost every gauge going, demo's and trade stands, helps to make Andover Modelex probably one of the best shows for it size in the south.

Graham

I keep the list up to date by editting the first post from information I receive from Andrew. We don't need to duplicate it but it is useful to add any extra information.

Hi

Has the Thornbury Hill layout been to the show before? If it is the same layout im thinking of it won the best layout at the show.

Cheers

Not while I've been a member but it quite possibly has before that.

Better start thinking about doing something with the N gauge trainset soon. Need to finish off the things that I didn't get completed before the last show!

Team Waton are looking forward to a good weekend.

Cheers

Dave

Layout update

Unfortunately Ian Corps has had to withdraw Botleigh Old Yard North. The replacement is Ken Dunton's Shad Dock, a 4mm 00 gauge layout based on BR Southern in 1960s South London.

A lovely show as always. A good mix of trade and quality layouts and on a personal level all new layouts to me. We've been to quite a few exhibitions and it was good not to see one or two of the usual suspects. I always find this a very friendly event from the people directing parking to exhibitors talking to visitors. My 5 year old enjoyed directing the shunting on a number of layouts and was engaged with and explained to what was happening. It's great as he loves his trains and at some shows his questions are ignored and he becomes invisible it would appear? A Huge thanks to everyone involved and see you next year.

We do our best to make the younger enthusiasts very welcome, we also try to encourage layout operators to be especially friendly to them, after all they are the future of our hobby.

We also try to be a little different in who we invite, this year we had two of the largest mobile layouts in the country there.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I will pass on your comments to the organising committee.

We had a hectic couple of days, but all went well with no last minute hitches.

We'd like to thank all those that traveled and made the effort to come, I personally spoke to people from Brighton, and another couple from New Zealand ( they were visiting relatives, saw the signs and popped in !)

Best in Show layout as voted for by the public was Dent Dale, so congrats to them, a great layout in 'N' Gauge.

We start the planning for next years show in a couple of weeks time, so watch out for news on that one !

Strange you should say this, as quite a few commented on how good the signage was this year.

I found plenty of signs once I left the A303. However although being black on yellow they were quite small and not always suitably placed for drivers to see. But I got straight to the show without issue on Sunday.
