The MX644D will be fine with 2 x 8 ohms in parallel, but don't use an SC68 stay alive capacitor without added voltage regulation. (The 644 will put track voltage to the capacitor; this may well exceed the maximim voltage of the SC68, especially if your system 'spikes' when switched on). Alternatively the layout is booked to appear at the Boston MRC show on 26/27th September so you (and anyone else who may be interested) can see it perform live!
