Graham Walters
Coming from Ross and traveling with my parents around the Forest and to Devon, I was always struck by the size and grandeur of Lydbrook viaduct, now I am building a model railway of nowhere in particular; but based on my home town Ross and the GWR. I would love to find some information about what was surely the most impressive part of the Wye Valley line. I need to have some idea of the spans and height of the piers, if any can help ? RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted April 8, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 8, 2015 Have you seen 'The Severn & Wye, Vol. 3' published by Wild Swan (currently out of print, but if you can access a copy, there may be information in there, I'll check in my own copy later). Taigatrommel
The outer spans were 120 feet, the central one 150. The highest pier was 90 feet. Info from the book Cap'n suggests.
edcayton
Hi Graham. I have dug out my copy of the OPC Forest of Dean Railways Layouts and Illustrations by Peter Smith, There is not a drawing of the viaduct (several buildings though) but there are some excellent photo's of it. Together with Rich's dimensions I reckon you could have a stab at building a model of it. It is certainly an attractive prototype. Ed
