Jack,

.

I've posted this photo, because it's got so many different items in it, which I hope may be of some assistance.

.

The photo was taken in May 2007, by standing on a BDA in the former ASW run-round loop..

If we move from the foreground back, first - in front of the pallisade fence  we have lines leading into Tidal Sidings which is just out of shot to the left.

.

The grey building with two white window frames was the ASW rail operations centre and is now used by GBRf staff.

.

The shunter, 08951, is on what used to be known as the  'south running road'.

.

The white things either side of the loco form part of the weighbridge.

.

The low blue building to the left is the billet bank at the south end of a section mill - here short billets are unloaded for rolling into angles and sections etc

.

The white building with a mono-pitch roof behind 08951 is the new scrap bay; since this was taken half of the lower cladding on the right wall (facing the road called Rover Way) has been removed.

.

The large white building with rusted pipework (our US cousins call them 'downcomers') that dominates the left background is the new meltshop (electric arc furnace).

.

The large blue building in the distance  that just rises above the new scrap bay is the original melt shop (also electric arc furnace).

.

The overhead pipe line used to run all the way to the Castle Works (Cardiff Rod Mill) but has been severed near the sight of the former NEG (Nippon Electrical Glass) factory that was built, used, closed and demolished in the blink of an eye - it's most memorable use being a set in the first series of Torchwood - in fact the old melt shop was also  a set in an edition of Dr.Who  - where 'the doctor' slugged it out with 'the master'.

.

Hope this helps.

.
