81A Oldoak
Would that include the apocryphal "rescue" of a stranded slip-coach by the Wantage Tramway 0-4-0T? (and said 0-4-0T entirely innocent of the vacuum brake). Not sure about that, but it reminds of a Friday at the Junior Division of the Army Staff College (JDSC) at Warminster when I was attending as a captain and my friend's Porsche wouldn't start. He accepted my offer of a tow-start using my 1950s liveried carmine-and-cream 2CV. He was mortified when I didn't stop and drove past th front of the HQ of the School of Infantry and, more importantly, a gathering of fellow officers who were most amused. On a serious note, there is a potentially useful thread on this subject on RMWeb: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/56336-rules-regarding-private-industrial-locos-on-main-lines/
