I have surface mounted point motors wired to the Hornby point motor switches but would like to add either LED or normal lamp indication onto a mimic board but as electrics is not really my strong point I need help with this and wondered how I would do it. The layout is analogue not DCC. Thanks in advance

A micro switch installed to the non point motor side of the point so as the points moving tie bar operates the switch is

perhaps the easiest. Example of a typical micro switch.... http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/miniature-microswitch-with-lever-n96aq

Then using a suitable power source (12 volts DC is typical) feed the positive to the common contact on the micro switch (often the off set connection) then the remaining two contacts connect to the two LEDs Anode leads (longest lead on the LED). Join together the two LED Cathode leads and then connect the joint to one end of a 1K0 (1000 ohm) resistor doesn't matter which end. Connect the other end of the resistor to the supplies negative.
