A first Attempt.

Attached photograph of one of the first signals I recall making, exact date I don't recall but now lost in the mist of time.

 4mm scale, the arms were white metal ex I believe K's, the finials turned brass and probably from Hamblings. The rest would be brass bar and strip and no different from how I go on today, but almost fifty years later. I do recall fabricating the bracket from Plasticard.

 The signal was based on a H&BRly example, and once to be found at Westbank Hall.

 I like to think I have moved on a little since then, but we all have to start somewhere.

Here is the original signal, it and the engine and wagons have long gone, but the line remains open. Some twenty years after making the signal, I also modelled the "Class A" 0-8-0.

if that was your first attempt at scratch building Signals, then you were destined to do this for the long term :-)

great modelling of a tricky delicate subject.
