RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted May 11, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 11, 2015 The start of the Thomas story 70 years ago today when the 'Three Railway Engines' was published. The Rev. W Awdry's tales have inspired and enthralled many of us and I couldn't resist a quick line up of the main characters from that first book http://www.thomasandfriends.com/en-us/about/when
andyram
They are nice models. Are they the Bachmann ones?
RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted May 20, 2015 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 20, 2015 Yep based on the TV ones.
andyram
Although HO in scale I do think they are much better than some of the Hornby versions.
RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted May 20, 2015 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 20, 2015 They are as big as the OO ones. At the end of the day you takes your pick of what style you like. I'm not sure they could be better either way Hornby caters for the more realistic style as Rev Awdry modelled or Bachmann do the TV versions.
Ozexpatriate
Although HO in scale They are as big as the OO ones. Despite what it says on the box (remember these are marketed to a US audience and they are certainly gauged for H0) they are essentially 00 in scale (more or less). There's no way Bachmann would want to market (and explain) what 00 scale/gauge is to people buying a Bachmann Thomas train set in the US.
andyram
The Bachmann ones are smaller than Hornby. You only have put a Hornby Gordon next to a Bachmann version to see the difference in scale.
