Sam '43003' Tanner
Away from everything else, I'm a photographer. My tastes lie in a few different aspects of photography but my main interests lie in both aviation and motorsport, both of which will get a bit of an airing. For me, flight is the very essence of what fuels my own personal being and this quote will go some way to explaining that; "To most people, the sky is the limit. For those who love aviation, the sky is home". There is something about being up with the clouds, free from the ties of terra firma that I actually find quite difficult to put in to words. When I'm stuck on the ground though, photographing mans best attempt at doing what clouds and birds do so effortlessly is a big part of my life. I focus on military aviation a bit more than civilian aviation, but the latter is a lot easier to access for the best part of the year. The constant exception to the rule is the Royal International Air Tattoo, held for a week every July at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire. I volunteer at the airshow with the refuelling operations team so it gives me a fantastic chance to get up close and personal to these fantastic aircraft. It's a stunner and if you're in the area, I can't recommend it enough! I've always been an F1 man but the money and the politics have turned me away and I've rekindled my love affair with the British Touring Car Championship and the support series. "Tin-Top" racing is so much better! 9 races in to the season and there have been about 7 different winners. You can't argue with that! I've been to Brands Hatch and Thruxton so far this year with Oulton Park a possibility along with Silverstone and Brands Hatch again later in the year and the British GT at Brands Hatch once more in August. The Ginetta Juniors and MSA Formula feature 14-15 year old racers starting out in their careers in both tin-top and open wheel championships. The Renault UK Clio Cup, The Porsche Carerra Cup and the Ginetta GT4 championships provide a further stepping stone and also a place for experienced drivers to compete. A notable name in the Clio Cup championship in recent years and due to compete in the BTCC at the tail end of the season is Nicolas Hamilton, younger brother of F1 champion Lewis Hamilton. He will become the first disabled driver to compete in the BTCC and the support for him is amazing and goes further to prove the diversity, quality and talent in all levels of racing at the BTCC event. For £35 and over 8 hours of motor racing, it's a superb day outt. Adrian Wintle
Very nice. I have been into both aviation and motor racing photography, but most of my photos don't look like those. My brother is seriously into motor racing photography these days https://www.flickr.com/photos/ricardipus/albums Adrian
